Young trialists from Germany and Colombia join Rapids training
Three young players from Germany and Colombia took part in the Colorado Rapids' training session Friday hoping to make an impression on the coaching staff.
Kevin Paannewitz (above left), a 21-year-old from Berlin, Germany, most recently played VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga after spending three seasons with Hansa Rostock. Paannewitz has been training with the team all week.
Also beginning their trial on Friday just hours after arriving from Bogota, Colombia were 18-year-old creative midfielder Manuel Izasa (above, middle) and 21-year-old winger Yoximar Granado Mosquera (above, right), both Colombians who are part of the Deportivo Cali system. Mosquera last year played with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the NASL and also previously tried out with the Chicago Fire. Izasa has primarily been with Cali's youth teams (VIDEO).
The international transfer window for Major League Soccer opens on July 9, at which point MLS teams may officially sign players who have been under contract with other clubs.
