Gabriel Torres expected to make Rapids debut Saturday against Vancouver in Colorado

Panamanian received his P-1 work visa and is available for immediate selection

At about the same time that Gabriel Torres entered Monday's Reserve League match for the Colorado Rapids, the club received news that the Panamanian's P-1 work visa had been received - which makes him eligible for immediate selection to first-team matches.

With all necessary documents in hand, it is expected that Torres will make his MLS debut on Saturday, August 17 when the Vancouver Whitecaps visit Dick's Sporting Goods Park for a 7:30 p.m. MT kickoff.

As news trickled out via President Tim Hinchey on Twitter, Torres proceeded to keep expecations high when he scored the game-winning goal in the 84' in a match which the Rapids Reserves won 2-1 over the Chivas USA Reserves side.

Saturday's match against Vancouver is the first of three against the Western Conference foe between now and the end of the season. Heading into the contest the Rapids and Vancouver are tied for second place in the West with 36 points apiece, although the Whitecaps have two games in hand. The teams will close out the 2013 regular season with a home-and-away series, with Vancouver again visiting Colorado on October 19 and the Rapids heading to Canada for the season finale on October 27.
