Power Rankings Week 26: Rapids take top spot in one poll
Each week we will take a look at where the Colorado Rapids stand in the weekly Power Rankings on national soccer media websites.
The Rapids didn't play in Week #26, but it was a busy week elsewhere in MLS. Despite the bye week, the Rapids didn't move far in the standings - now tied for 3rd place in the Western Conference and for 4th in the overall in MLS standings.
Here’s how the week affected the team's standings in national MLS Power Rankings:
The bye week was nice, but now it's a race to the finish. And for the Rapids, it ain't easy -- they probably have the hardest remaining schedule in the league.
Teams ranked above the Rapids: Real Salt Lake, LA Galaxy.
The Rapids missed out on all of the fun across the league this weekend.
Oscar Pareja's club will get back to work on Saturday in an important match against Sporting.
Teams ranked above the Rapids: Real Salt Lake, Galaxy, Timbers, Sporting KC.
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown, especially when a bye week is to be followed by trips to Kansas City and Los Angeles. Still, five wins and four ties in the last nine games ain’t no accident.
Teams ranked above the Rapids: None.
Oscar Pareja’s young team had a week off to steel itself for upcoming road tests at Sporting Kansas City and Los Angeles. We’ll know a lot more in two weeks about upside where the Rapids’ young lineup is concerned.
Teams ranked above the Rapids: Real Salt Lake, Galaxy, Timbers.
With the Rapids riding a nine-game unbeaten streak, last weekend's bye didn't exactly come at the best time. But the players will be happy for the rest, especially midfielder Hendry Thomas, who is battling a hamstring injury.
Teams ranked above the Rapids: Impact, Timbers, Sounders, Real Salt Lake, Galaxy.
What do you think of the rankings? How does Bleacher Report justify ranking Kansas City (four losses in five games) above the Rapids (riding a nine-game unbeaten streak)? Or is Soccer America's ranking as #1 more accurate?
