Hispanic Heritage Night, SOCO match, and Open Closets, Open Hearts sidewalk sale taking place Sept. 14

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, September 10, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids will hold several special events around this Saturday’s home match against FC Dallas, taking place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City at 7:00 p.m. MT.
 
Hispanic Heritage Night – An annual event at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Hispanic Heritage Night will include performances throughout the evening by a live mariachi band outside of Eighteen76 before the game and on the concourse during the game. Halftime events will be hosted by Telemundo anchors Carlos Rausseo and Viviano Granillo, and after the match DJ Tatiana will perform live for fans in Eighteen76. INDIVIDUAL TICKETS
 
Special Olympics Colorado – This summer, the Colorado Rapids and Special Olympics Colorado kicked off the second annual Colorado Rapids Special Olympics Unified All-Star Soccer season, and their first game of the season will be played on the pitch at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park shortly after the MLS match on Saturday night against the Special Olympics Dallas Unified Team. The Colorado squad has been practicing since August with the help of Rapids players Matt Pickens and Chris Klute, and will later travel to Portland to take on Special Olympics Oregon on September 21. A special ticket offer is available for $20 (normally $35) with a portion of every ticket sold through the link going to Special Olympics Colorado.
 
Open Closets, Open Hearts – The Colorado Rapids Sidekicks, made up of the wives and girlfriends of Rapids players, are hosting a sidewalk sale and auction of Rapids players’ new and gently used gear to raise funds and awareness for the Myocarditis Foundation. The sidewalk sale will take place outside of Eighteen76 before the match and on the concourse during the match. The events is held to honor Elysa Rojas, daughter of Head Athletic Trainer Jaime Rojas and wife, Jana. Elysa passed away suddenly in January as a result of viral myocarditis. READ HER STORY HERE.
