Rapids Academy forward Wilmer Cabrera selected for U.S. U-14 camp

Cabrera to join U-14 Boys' National Team from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6 in California

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Monday, September 30, 2013) –Colorado Rapids Academy forward Wilmer Cabrera has been selected to the United States Under-14 National Team for an training camp in Carson, Calif. from Sept. 28 to Oct. 6. Cabrera, of Aurora, is one of 48 players selected by head coach Tony Lepore for the camp, which will include intra-squad scrimmages on Wednesday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 5.

Cabrera, 13, is a member of the Rapids U-14 Team that begins play in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy this month. He is the son of Rapids Assistant Coach Wilmer Cabrera, who was brought to the club prior to the 2011 season by Head Coach Oscar Pareja and Technical Director Paul Bravo.

The Rapids face the Seattle Sounders this Saturday, October 5 at 8 p.m. MT at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in the second-to-last home game of the 2013 regular season, and the match is crucial for MLS Cup Playoff positioning.
