Rookie Kory Kindle undergoes succesful hernia surgery

Defender expected to miss two-three months during rehabilitation

Rapids defender Kory Kindle underwent successful sports hernia surgery on Friday morning in Fremont, California. The Rapids’ second round MLS SuperDraft Draft Pick from Ventura, Calif. suffered a sprained left ankle in late August, and during his recovery from that injury discovered the sports hernia which required surgery. He will miss approximately two to three months for recovery.

The surgery was performed on Friday by Dr. William Brown M.D., a sports hernia specialist based in California, and the procedure had no complications. Kindle, 22, has played 630 minutes in seven reserve league games, and has not yet made his first team debut.

Kindle will start the first phase of his recovery next week when he returns to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park to begin rehabilitation work with the Rapids Athletic Training staff.
