West HS Boys Varsity team recognized by Rapids, Telemundo for good sportsmanship

Team recognized last Saturday as part of Hispanic Heritage Night at Rapids match

Prior to Colorado's 2-1 win over Dallas last Saturday, the Rapids and partner, Telemundo, recognized the West High School boys varsity team in a pre-game ceremony as part of Hispanic Heritage Night.

Telemundo Denver ran an on-air promotion with anchor Carlos Rausseo encouraging high school teams who displayed good sportsmanship to tell their story via the 'call-now' promo.

After review of all entries, the West Cowboys won tickets to the Rapids' September 14th match, authentic Colorado Rapids primary jerseys, on-field recognition, and a segment on Telemundo Denver's Saturday morning show, Rumbos (10 a.m. MT).

“(The West High) coaches have made a constant effort to implement sportsmanship through every game," said Sebastian Tonazzi, Telemundo Marketing and Promotions Manager. "Whether is helping a rival player get up, shaking hands after the game, or stopping a play if a rival player gets injured. They have represented their high school with pride. The West Cowboys have a positive attitude at every game. All thanks to coach Sanchez and Luna.”

The West Cowboys are just as good a team as they are sportsmen. They are off to a 4-0-1 to start the season, having outscore their opponents 18-4.
