Academy 18s Recap: Rapids fall 3-1 to Dallas Texans

After an even first half, Rapids give up two goals to visiting Texans

The Rapids Academy U18s fell to the Dallas Texans, 3-1, on Sunday, Oct. 6 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

After the Texans took an early lead with a goal in the 9th minute, the Rapids tied the match 20 minutes later midfielder Isaac Martinez served a ball from the right side to Felix Elias, who took a left footed shot past the Dallas goalkeeper.

Shortly into the second half, Dallas again took the lead and held onto it for 15 minutes. Jacob Hanlin looked to have scored a tying goal for the Rapids when he his shot hit the crossbar and the ball bounced close to the line, but the referee declared that it did not break the plane to be counted as a goal.

Dallas solidified their road victory in the final minutes of regulation with their third goal.

The loss gives the U18s a now 1-2-2 record, and they’ll next play Texas Rush at home on October 20.
