Activities & Promotions for Oct. 5: Everything You Need to Know Surrounding the Match
The MLS Cup Playoffs are approaching quickly and the Western Conference playoff race is tight. The Colorado Rapids will take on Seattle Sounders FC at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, October 5th in a crucial match as only six points separate the two sides in the standings.
Be sure to get to the Park early as the complex will be full due to the Trebol tournament and numerous activities and events surrounding the match:
MLS Goes Pink for October: Saturday is Breast Cancer Awareness Night and the Rapids are going pink to raise funds and awareness for MLS’s Soccer Kicks Cancer initiative. The teams will use a pink ball, and pink will be prominent all over the field and stadium.
HelpColoradoNow.org Jerseys: The Rapids will wear special jerseys featuring the website, HelpColoradoNow.org to support fundraising efforts for the floods that affected the region over the past month. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the match with proceeds going to the disaster relief efforts. More details here.
Global Down Syndrome event: For the third year in a row, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation has held the Dare to Play Soccer Clinics in conjunction with Rapids Academy senior director Brian Crookham (above) and Regis University. As a conclusion to the summer program, participants will be on hand at Saturday’s game to lead the Starting XI of both the Rapids and the Sounders onto the field. During halftime, athletes will take to the field to showcase their skills.
The Global Down Syndrome Foundation launched the Dare to Play Soccer Camp for individuals with Down syndrome in September of 2011 to provide an opportunity for males and females age 8 and up to learn the basics, camaraderie and joy of soccer from college and professional soccer players.
Special Olympics Pre-Game: Come to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park early to watch our Special Olympics Unified Team take on the Special Olympics Seattle Sounders team at 4pm in the final match of the season. Entry is free of charge! The partnership is a program that provides unique training, competitions and social experiences for not only individuals with intellectual disabilities but for everyone involved. Merch of the Match: It’s going to be chilly Saturday night so stop by any Altitude Authentics location to pick up your October 5th Merch of the Match, $10 Rapids knit hats by adidas (right). Supplies are limited so get there early!
50/50 Raffle: The Colorado Rapids will introduce the 50/50 Raffle at the match on Saturday, with proceeds benefitting the non-profit Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club. Tickets will be sold through the first half and one winner will take home 50% of the Raffle sales. MORE DETAILS.
Non-Profit of the Match: The Rapids have teamed up with Connect for Health Colorado as the Non-Profit Organization of the Match on October 5th vs. Seattle Sounders FC. Connect for Health Colorado aims to increase access, affordability, and choice for individuals and small employers purchasing health insurance in Colorado.
Special Ticket Offers: Don't have tickets yet? A limited number of individual seats are still available. Or, take advantage of the new Lads Night Out presented by Jameson. Centennial 38 Buses: The Centennial 38 Supporters Group is offering roundtrip bus transportation to and from the match on Thursday from four Denver-area bars: Three Lions, British Bulldog, The Armoury, and Celtic Tavern. Autograph Alley: Following Saturday’s match, make your way down to the field to get autographs from several Rapids players, designated by the Colorado Rapids Sidekicks.
Eighteen76: Visit Eighteen76 (formerly known as the Cantina) after each home match to meet and mingle with the Man of the Match. While waiting for the Rapids Man of the Match to arrive, catch students from Denver’s Global DJ Academy spinning all the newest hits and old school classics and hangout with the Rapids mascots.
During the game, be sure to visit the Budweiser Build-A-Bar located outside of Eighteen 76. You can also donate a scarf to our new scarf wall in exchange for a free beer! Restrictions may apply.
Arby’s: Arby’s is extending a very special offer to Rapids fans. Starting July 7th and running through the end of the season, whenever the Rapids win a home game, take your ticket stub to your neighborhood Arby’s location (in CO &WY) through the Friday after the game (October 11th) for FREE curly fries!

Concourse Activities: Be sure to take a couple laps around the concourse. Noble Energy will be on hand with an exhibit featuring cars that operate on natural gas. Xcel Energy will have an Eco Trailer outside Gate F and a concourse booth with a chance to win prizes and take pictures with Rapids mascots. Windows 8 and Second Hand Smoke will also have activities for fans. And, Yakult will offer product samples.
