Colorado Rapids Playoff Scenarios: 3rd in West still up for grabs

With one game left, Colorado could finish anywhere from 3rd to 5th in the West

The Rapids’ playoff scenarios have narrowed further based on Saturday night’s win for the Portland Timbers over Chivas USA. The result means that 2nd place in the Western Conference is no longer in sights for Colorado, but the Rapids could still finish third with a win in Vancouver and a draw between LA and Seattle. Here are the full playoff scenarios for the Rapids:

Finish 3rd and host Real Salt Lake in a Western Conference Semifinal on Nov. 2/3 IF

  • Rapids beat Vancouver AND Portland beats Chivas AND LA ties Seattle

Finish 4th and host LA for Knockout Match on Oct. 30/31 IF

  • Rapids beat Vancouver AND Seattle beats LA

Finish 4th and host Seattle for Knockout Match on Oct. 30/31 IF

  • Rapids tie Vancouver AND LA beats Seattle
  • Rapids beat Vancouver AND LA beats Seattle

Finish 5th and visit Seattle for Knockout Match on Oct. 30/31 IF

  • Rapids lose to Vancouver AND LA beats or ties Seattle, OR
  • Rapids tie Vancouver AND LA ties Seattle
