Rapids Academy defender Sam Vines selected for U.S. U-15 National Team Camp
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Wednesday, October 23, 2013) –Colorado Rapids Academy defender Sam Vines of Colorado Springs has been selected to the United States Under-15 Boys’ National Team for a training camp in Carson, Calif. from Oct. 26 to Nov. 3. Vines, 14, is one of 30 players picked by head coach Hugo Perez for the camp, which will feature four matches against Development Academy teams.
Vines, a left back, is the youngest player currently on the roster for the Rapids Under-16 Team, which has started the new Development Academy with an undefeated 3-0-3 record, with nine goals for and just one against. He is also eligible to play matches for the Rapids Under-14 Team and was also previously called in to the U.S. U-14 camp in August.
Twenty-four of the players invited to the U-15 BNT training camp currently play for U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams, eleven of whom represent six different MLS club academies, including the Colorado Rapids, D.C. United, FC Dallas, LA Galaxy, New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union. The roster also includes two players from Liga MX side Club Tijuana’s youth ranks.
