Deshorn Brown earns third cap for Jamaica in 1-0 loss to Trinidad and Tobago
Colorado Rapids forward and top Rookie of the Year contender Deshorn Brown earned his third international cap and played 72 minutes for Jamaica on Friday, in the first of two international friendlies against Trinidad and Tobago. T&T scored in the first five minutes of the match on their way to a 1-0 victory over the Reggae Boyz in Montego Bay.
Brown will next travel with the squad to Port of Spain for the second match against Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, November 19.
The 22-year-old earned his first call up to the Jamaican national team last month when named to the senior squad for the team's final two World Cup qualifiers. He played the full 90 minutes in their 2-0 loss to the United States on October 11, and then the first 77 minutes in a 2-2 draw against Honduras four days later.
Having just finished his first season, Brown scored a team and league rookie-leading 10 goals in 2013 and is a frontrunner for the MLS Rookie of the Year award, along with teammate Dillon Powers. The award will be announced on November 25.
