Rapids fall 3-2 in tight match with Carolina Rapids

The Colorado Rapids Under-18 Academy team dropped their second result of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy Winter Showcase on Thursday, falling 3-2 in an exciting match with Rapids adidas Alliance club Carolina Rapids. The loss brings the Colorado Rapids to a 4-6-5 (W-L-T) record in the Frontier Division, with their final game of the Showcase and the year on Saturday against Chivas USA at 9 a.m ET.

The U-18s came out strong but went down early in the match, giving up a two-goal lead in the first half. In the second half, Kortne Ford scored in the 55th minute off of an Isaac Martinez  corner kick, and 10 minutes later Carolina's Tanner Roberts scored his third goal of the match.The Rapids once again pulled one back when Victor Rolphe scored in the 85th minute, and nearly tied the match with a Martinez penalty kick at the end of regulation that was unsuccessful to result in a 3-2 loss.
