2014 MLS SuperDraft: Colorado Rapids draft Albert Edward in fourth round
The Colorado Rapids concluded the 2014 SuperDraft by selecting Australian defender Albert Edward from Lindey Wilson College. Edward was the 69th overall selection, taken with the 11th pick in the fourth round.
Edward started 57 of the 71 games he appeared in during his four years with the Blue Raiders, scoring four goals and adding seven assists from his defensive role. Last year he also played for the Premier Development League's Des Moines Menace, which advanced to the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup before falling to MLS side Sporting KC.
Edward is the fourth player who played at Lindsey Wilson to be drafted into MLS, following former Rapids defender Tyrone Marshall (1998), Thabiso “Boyzzz” Khumalo (DC United 2008), Kheli Dube (New England 2008).
