Deshorn Brown called up by the Reggae Boyz

Striker heads east after Montreal match to join up with Jamaica's squad

Colorado Rapids forward Deshorn Brown has been called up by Jamaica, which is playing upcoming friendly matches against Serbia, Switzerland and Egypt. The Reggae Boyz face Serbia on May 26 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., Switzerland in Lucerne on May 30, and Egypt in London on June 4.

Brown is in contention to feature against Montreal Impact on Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park (TICKETS), and will depart for New Jersey on Sunday.

“Deshorn continues to show his abilities and potential with both his club and his country,” said Paul Bravo, the Rapids VP of Soccer Operations. “We’re happy that Jamaica is giving him these opportunities to play at a very high level, and we wish him the best.”

Brown, 23, has two goals in nine matches (seven starts) so far in 2014, following a stellar rookie season in 2013 when he had ten goals in 31 matches, leading all first-year players. With the Jamaican national team, Brown played a pair of World Cup qualifiers at the end of 2013, and has two goals in his four total appearances with his country.
