World Soccer Celebration presented by Western Union starts June 13

Special events in downtown Denver to showcase soccer on a global scale

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – The World Soccer Celebration presented by Western Union will run from June 13-16 in downtown Denver, featuring live broadcasts of matches from Brazil on a 20-foot screen in Skyline Park near the 16th Street Mall. The public is invited to this free event that includes four days of live soccer, food and drink vendors, games, giveaways and more. The event will culminate in the U.S. national team’s opening match against Ghana on Monday, June 16 at 4 p.m. MT.

“Western Union is thrilled to work with the Rapids and all soccer fans in the Denver area to create a memorable event for the opening weekend of one of  the world’s greatest sporting events,” said Laston Charriez, Western Union Senior Vice President, Americas Marketing.. “The World Soccer Celebration will give fans a unique viewing experience where they can meet friends, enjoy the outdoors, and watch soccer at the highest level in the middle of downtown Denver.”

A total of 13 matches over four days will be shown both on the giant screen and at a secondary viewing area at the opposite end of Skyline Park, celebrating the world’s most exciting sporting event.
