Bart Young/Getty Images can confirm that the club is in advanced talks with an experienced central defender, and the player is set to fly to Denver to finalize negotiations in the next 48 hours.

The player in question has enjoyed time in one of the most competitive leagues in Europe, featuring at the very top level. He has also represented his national side.

Despite a strong display from both Thomas Piermayr and Marvell Wynne during last Saturday's 1-0 loss at Seattle Sounders, the Rapids are in need of experienced cover at center back, in the absence of injured duo Drew Moor and Shane O'Neill.
