COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — The Colorado Rapids have signed goalkeeper Ethan Bandré from MLS NEXT Pro side Rapids 2 to a one-year contract through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025 and 2026, the club announced today.

“Ethan has earned the organization’s trust and belief through his performances in training and matches this season,” said Colorado Rapids Sporting Director Fran Taylor. “His contract with the First Team allows the club to fill a position of need in the goalkeeping group and utilizes our player development pathway in the way it was intended.”

Bandré joined Rapids 2 in February 2024 after spending two seasons with fellow MLS NEXT Pro side Sporting KC II where he signed his first professional contract ahead of the 2022 season. During the 2023 season, Bandré led Kansas City’s backline with three clean sheets in 14 appearances to help the team to a second place finish in the Frontier Division and a third place standing in the Western Conference.

Before the start of the 2024 season, Bandré joined the Rapids First Team for preseason training in both Querétaro, Mexico, and Orlando, Florida. So far this season, the goalkeeper has started in four matches for Rapids 2, making his first appearance for the club on March 17, 2024.

Bandré becomes one of five Rapids 2 players to make the jump from the club’s MLS NEXT Pro side to its First Team. The first Rapids 2 player to sign for the First Team was defender Daniel Chacón on July 3, 2023. Since then, the Rapids First Team has signed forward Rémi Cabral, midfielder Daouda Amadou and Homegrown goalkeeper Adam Beaudry.

TRANSACTION: Colorado Rapids sign goalkeeper Ethan Bandré to a one-year contract with a club option for 2025 and 2026 on April 25, 2024.
