As part of a league-wide initiative, the Colorado Rapids and MLS Works will team up this week to participate in Greener Goals Week of Service, a week dedicated to environmentally friendly projects and raising awareness about environmental issues within our community.

This year, the Rapids are partnering with the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, Habitat for Humanity, adidas and others to help make a difference. Additionally, the Rapids’ next home game, set for April 22 against St. Louis CITY, will have several activations as part of Sustainability Night presented by King Soopers, the first theme night of the season. And it’s pretty fitting that the game is on Earth Day.

Our Community Projects

Rapids staff and players will volunteer their time in our own backyard, helping clean up the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge, a 15,988-acre refuge located adjacent to DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo.

Later in the week, the Rapids will spend their morning constructing a home with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that builds decent and affordable homes for low-income families in the community.

One Planet Kits

MLS and adidas are launching special One Planet kits, made in part from recycled material, for all teams to wear for Week 9. This is a mass awareness opportunity to educate fans on sustainability best practices within their homes and how MLS and adidas are working together to end plastic waste.

The kits will be unveiled the week of April 17, so keep an eye on the Rapids’ website and social channels (@ColoradoRapids) for the first look.

Fans will also have an opportunity to bid on game-worn One Planet jerseys through an online auction, which starts April 22 and runs through April 30.

Jerseys will be available to purchase online and at the team store at DSG Park. Keep an eye for more information!

Sustainability Night presented by King Soopers

This year’s Sustainability Night presented by King Soopers falls on Earth Day 2023, and accordingly, the night will be centered on making our planet a healthier place.

On April 22, the Rapids will welcome expansion MLS side St. Louis CITY (7-1-0) to DSG Park. For each Sustainability Night ticket, purchased here, $5 will go back to the Denver Park Trust, whose mission is to improve and expand Denver’s park system.

Ride Your Bike
To start the night, fans that live near DSG Park are encouraged to ride their bikes to the game and use the Burgundy Bike Lot, which opened on last year’s Sustainability Night.

Technology Drive
On arrival, fans will find drop-off bins at Gates B and G as part of the Rapids’ Technology Drive. Partnering with Genesis Electronics Recycling, the Rapids are taking your small household electronic items as well as some office equipment to be sustainably and responsibly recycled through environmentally safe processed that comply with R2 requirements.
