Acquired: Acquired on September 15, 2010 along with a fourth round 2013 MLS SuperDraft pick in a trade with the Houston Dynamo in exchange for midfielder Colin Clark and allocation money.

MLS CAREER

2012

  • One of two members of the current Rapids squad and the 15th field player in MLS history to reach 300 career regular season games played after earning a start in the 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake on Aug. 4
  • After serving a 9-game suspension for a red card received on April 28 against Seattle Sounders for a tackle on Steve Zakuani, Mullan returned to the pitch on May 2.
  • 2012 was the first time in his then 12-year career that he did not reach the MLS playoffs.

2011

  • Appeared in 22 matches, starting 19 and playing a total of 1665 minutes for the Rapids.
  • Scored one goal, the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew (8/5).
  • Played in three CONCACAF Champions League matches and scored one goal against Santos Laguna (9/13).
  • Received a red card in the 4/3 match against Seattle Sounders FC for a foul against Steve Zakuani, which resulted in a ten-match suspension.
  • Re-signed a new multi-year contract with the Rapids in December 2011.

2010

  • Appeared in seven games, with five starts, playing 340 minutes and tallied two assists with the Rapids.
  • Registered first assist in a Rapids uniform at RSL (9/25).
  • Made Rapids debut playing 61 minutes as a starter vs. New England (9/18).
  • Appeared in 22 games, with 17 starts, playing 1,521 minutes, for Houston before being acquired by the Rapids in a trade on September 15.

2009

  • Contributed four assists while playing in 25 of 30 games.
  • With the assist vs. Real Salt Lake (6/20), moved into second place in Dynamo history with 22 assists in all competitions.

  • Finished with three goals and five assists playing in all 30 games with 28 starts.
  • Started 100th game with Dynamo in all competitions vs. Chivas USA (8/20), the second player to reach that milestone.
  • SuperLiga: Scored first goal since June 21, 2007 in 4-0 win vs. Atlante (7/12).
  • Set up Corey Ashe's clinching goal in 87th minute of 2-0 win vs. Pachuca (7/29) in semifinals.
  • Champions League: Assisted on Craig Waibel's game-tying goal in the 50th minute at Pumas as the Dynamo recorded the first ever tie by an MLS team in Mexico.

  • Started 28 of the team's 30 games.
  • Scored only goal of the MLS season in the sixth minute vs. Chivas USA (6/21).
  • Champions' Cup: Made the cross that led to the Dynamo's first goal in the quarterfinal second leg vs. Puntarenas (2/21).
  • Scored first goal in semifinal second leg at Pachuca (4/5).
  • SuperLiga: Registered assist vs. Pachuca (8/14).

2006

  • Started all 31 games he played and finished with two goals and four assists.
  • Playoffs: Scored clinching third goal in Western Conference final vs. Colorado (11/5). Helped Dynamo rally for tie in MLS Cup final, serving a cross to Brian Ching for the tying goal immediately after New England had taken the lead.
  • Open Cup: Played all 90 minutes and set up opening goal in 4-2 win vs. Carolina (8/2).

2005

  • Scored three goals and registered six assists.
  • Played in 25 games despite missing seven games with left ankle injury.
  • Playoffs: Registered an assist vs. LA (10/30).
  • Open Cup: Scored at Portland (8/3).

  • Appeared in 10 games for Los Angeles, playing 809 minutes.
  • Underwent surgery on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus on March 30.
  • Made his MLS debut against Colorado (4/21).
  • Earned his second MLS start at Colorado (4/28), registering his first MLS assist.
  • Underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ligament in his right ankle on July 24.

  • Brian Mullan has earned four caps with the United States Men’s National Team.

COLLEGE

  • Inducted into the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame on April 14, 2008.
  • During his four years, 1997-2000, he established himself as a standout forward.
  • Second all-time in Creighton in games played with 88.
  • Ranks fourth overall in individual career records with 36 goals and 32 assists. Recorded six goals and four assists in postseason action during his four seasons.
  • Fifth on the single-season goals list.
  • Was a four-time all-Missouri Valley Conference selection.
  • Led Blue Jays to their first NCAA College Cup championship game in 2000 falling to UConn 2-0.

 

PERSONAL

  • Has two children: Brady and Keagan, with wife Kersten, who is a former Creighton women’s soccer player.
  • Attended Regis Jesuit High School and was the 1996-97 Colorado Player of the Year.
  • Led Regis to two state titles - 4A his junior year, 5A when he was a senior.
  • Scored three goals and had an assist in a 5-4 victory over Horizon in the Colorado state 5A tile game in 1996. His team was trailing 4-3 before he scored twice in the last 2 minutes, 46 seconds.
  • Earned 1997 first-team all-state honors as a senior in high school.
  • Earned 1996 High School All-America honors from Parade and Umbro.
  • Although Mullan excelled in soccer, his first sport was hockey. He played in the Littleton Hockey Association and for Team Colorado before committing to soccer full time.
  • A member of the Select 15 and Select 17 USA Hockey Teams.
