Colorado Rapids Sign Argentine Striker Nicolas Hernandez

DENVER (Thursday March 30 2006)- The Colorado Rapids announced today the signing of Argentine striker Nicolas Hernandez who has been in training camp with the club since the beginning of the 2006 preseason.

Hernandez is set to make his debut on Sunday April 2 against the Houston Dynamo in the team’s 2006 season opener.

Details of the contract were not made public.

Hernandez a skillful striker that has a nose for the open space made a name for himself in the Argentine first and second divisions playing for clubs such as Colón de Santa Fe and Ferrocaril Oeste.

His style of soccer and creative play caught the eye of Italian club Cremonese who signed him in 2002. After his stint in Italy Hernandez returned to Argentina and played for Huracán and San Martín de Mendoza before migrating to Chile where he played for powerhouse Cobreloa in 2005.
