The event will begin Feb. 19 with the region's seven teams split into two groups one with four teams and the other with three. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals with the title match scheduled for Feb. 27.
This will be the second time Guatemala has hosted the UNCAF Cup. It last staged the event in 1997. Costa Rica has won four times including twice when it was host and Honduras twice. Guatemala won once in 2001.
No Central American team has ever won the Gold Cup since it was started in 1991 although Hondruas reached the final in 1991 and Costa Rica in 2002 both losing to the United States.
