Participants will be asked to learn and perform a choreographed piece they are taught as well as participate in a personality interview. All times listed are approximations so please be flexible!
The 2007 Colorado Rapids Cheerleading team will consist of exceptional men and women who will have the privilege of representing the Colorado Rapids by dancing cheerleading and stunting in front of home crowds at Dick's Sporting Goods Park and at numerous marketing and community events throughout Colorado in 2007.
Rapids Cheerleaders represent the club with pride and build a special connection with all soccer fans youth teams and the general audience. Responsibilities include interaction with fans at games making public media appearances on TV and radio and representing the team at community events charitable functions and special occasions.
Anyone interested in taking part in the 2007 Rapids Cheerleader Tryouts must pre-register by sending an email to RapidsCheerleaders@pepsicenter.comwith their name e-mail address and phone number by 5:00pm on Friday February 23rd!
Participants at the Rapids Cheerleader Tryouts must be 18 years of age by March 1 2007 must be a high school graduate and must have prior dance cheerleading or stunting experience.
Participants should wear no hard-soled shoes and show up in dance or workout attire. Participants must also bring a resume and headshot and be prepared to give both an athletic performance as well as a one-on-one verbal interview with the judges.
FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS REGARDING RAPIDS CHEERLEADER TRYOUTS:
Are there any age requirements for the Rapids Cheerleaders?
You must be at least 18 years of age by March 1 2007 to join the Rapids Cheerleaders roster. There is no limit for maximum age. The tryouts are open to both men and women.
Is there a fee to participate in the tryouts?
No the tryouts are free to all participants!
What will the judges be looking for?
Dance cheer and/or stunting ability showmanship overall appearance poise personality confidence ability to follow direction education community service experience and future goals.
Are there any height or weight requirements?
No but you should be in top physical condition.
What is the time commitment during the Rapids season?
The Colorado Rapids season runs from April through November. Cheerleaders will start training for the start of the season immediately after the tryouts.
Being a Rapids Cheerleader is not a full-time job. Most of our team members are full-time students or have other jobs. The time commitment is usually 3 or 4 hours a week of rehearsal time in addition to performing at all home games (up to 18 per season). The Rapids will also count on our Cheerleaders at various times during the year to make appearances at community and team marketing events and activities as they arise.
Can my family or friends come and watch auditions?
No. Auditions are closed to the public.
Do you have to have prior experience?
Yes. All participants should have at least a basic amount of prior experience in either dancing cheerleading and/or stunt training.
Do last year’s Rapids Cheerleaders have to re-audition?
Yes all members must go through the audition process each season and are not guaranteed their place on the team.
What can I do to prepare for the interview session?
Be prepared to be able to speak well about yourself your background and how you would represent the Rapids and the sport of soccer in the community why you think it’s important for the Rapids to have a Cheerleading squad and why we should want you personally to be on it!
Can you explain the audition process and what is expected?
All participants MUST be pre-registered by sending an email to RapidsCheerleaders@pepsicenter.com. You will then be contacted with final details and for confirmation of your registration.
Check-in for participants will begin at 9:00am sharp on Saturday Feb. 24. The auditions will start promptly; do not be late. Make sure that you bring plenty of water and your own food to keep your energy levels up as none may be available at the facility.
The audition will consist of you performing to music in areas of dancing and/or stunting in front of the judges. After all contestants have performed the judges will return with the names of the finalists. These finalists will then take part in the interview process (casual attire).
