COMMERCE CITY CO (Oct. 1 2007) – As a part of the club-to-club partnership forged earlier this year between Mexico’s C.F. Pachuca and the Colorado Rapids of MLS the Tuzos Soccer Academy was launched on Monday Oct. 1 at the Rapids’ home stadium Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
The Tuzos Academy is planned to provide instruction for boys and girls between 6 and 18 years of age and its mission will be to link the sport of soccer with the importance of human values as the main tools of a truly-integrated soccer education.
This is the Mexican club's first-ever soccer academy in the United States of America.
The Tuzos Academy’s official launch was Monday October 1 at 4:30 p.m. MT on the fields complex at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Juan Manuel Herrero the project manager and Prosport’s Managing Partner and Coach José Luis Arce one of the most recognized Mexican youth soccer coaches were present as were special guests and distinguished representatives including: Enrique Borja Mexican soccer icon; Jeff Plush Managing Director of the Colorado Rapids; Fernando Clavijo Head Coach of the Colorado Rapids; Eduardo Arnal Mexico’s Consul in Denver and Paul Natale Mayor of Commerce City.
It is important to mention that the Tuzos Academy’s first season will be a short introductory one with only a one-month duration (October); the regular full season of the Tuzos Academy will run April-October 2008 and will follow that summer-long format for the coming years.
