A prolific goalscorer Osorno is a flexible forward with good ball skills and impressive field vision qualities that made him an icon at Atlas.
The 28-year old Osorno made his professional debut with Atlas in 1997. From his debut Osorno quickly became a regular in the Atlas lineup and was one of Atlas’ regular goal-scoring producers for several years.
Osorno played for Atlas from 1997-2003 was loaned out to Monterey for the 2003-04 season and then returned to Atlas where he played from 2004-07. In his 278 games played for Atlas Osorno found the back of the net 61 times.
Osorno also has extensive experience with the Mexican National Team. In 1999 he was called up to the U-20 team. Later that same year he made his debut for the senior squad. Osorno has played in numerous tournaments for Mexico and was part of the team that beat Brazil in the 1999 FIFA Confederations Cup.
In the 2003 Gold Cup final Osorno scored the game-winning goal in extra time to defeat Brazil and win the tournament. He has been selected to Mexico’s senior national team 56 times and has scored 12 goals for his country.
