In a ceremony at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park yesterday, three of the senior players from the Colorado Rapids Development Academy signed their letters of intent with various schools from around the country.
“It’s a special day for these players. It is a day that they get recognized for all of the work that they put in,” said Rapids Academy Director Brian Crookham.” They’ve earned something very special in a college scholarship to play the sport that they love.”
“We have a very small group of seniors this year (six in total), and we still have probably two seniors that will sign in the next couple of weeks. But to see them get these opportunities and continue to play while they pursue an education is tremendous.”
The three players who signed their letters of intent yesterday were:
- James Rogers – University of New Mexico
- Matthew Taphorn – Central Arkansas Univeristy
- Jordan Spring – Regis University
