Welcome to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park for tonight’s match against Chivas USA! With just ten games left in the regular season, this matchup is crucial, against a Western Conference team right next to us in the standings. Our result last week in Dallas was a tough one, but we’ll build on the positives and look to get the result tonight.
We have some exciting things happening in the stadium tonight. First, we’re happy to have the Denver Zoo here for Wildlife Education Night, so be sure to visit their booth above Section 122 to check out the live animals, artifacts and activities for kids and families. Also, we’ll be hosting the first annual Battle of the Badges immediately after our game ends. This charity match features the Denver Police against Denver Fire, and raises money for a pair of great causes: the Denver Police Orphan’s Fund and the Friends of Denver Fire. Many of you purchased special tickets whose proceeds went to these charities.

On the horizon for the club are a few exiting events. On September 10, we’ll host our third annual Charity Classic Golf Tournament at The Club at Pradera in Parker. There are still some spaces left, so visit our website, or call Heather Garcia (303-405-1166) for more information or to sign up if you’re interested in playing.
Also, we just announced on Thursday that on September 19, Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will be hosting the United States Women’s National Team, the 2012 Olympic Gold Medalists, in a friendly match against Australia. Tickets to the match will be on sale shortly, and we hope you’ll join us to cheer on the USA! We’re also crossing our fingers that Rapids Women captain Brooke Spence, who played in Australia’s last match, will be selected for national side.
Thank you all for coming out tonight, and we hope to see you again on September 5 for our nationally-televised match against the Portland Timbers. Come on you Rapids!
