With the players set to report for the start of the 2013 preseason on January 17 - the same day as the MLS SuperDraft - ColoradoRapids.com will be taking a look at the depth chart at each position, based on the formation the team utilized for the last portion of last year.
The incumbent here is Jaime Castrillon, who lead the team with eight goals last year. However he's not a typical winger that flies up and down the flank and attacks, though he does clearly have a nose for the ball when inside the area. Second-year pro Tony Cascio and newly signed winger Kevin Harbottle are also more than solid options. And, they appear to have more characteristics found in an outside forwards, utilizing their speed and willingness to attack to their advantage. Definitely not a settled position, yet, but one that once again should be counted on for goals - regardless of who's in there.
