CHICAGO (March 1, 2013) — U.S. Soccer is planning an exciting series of activities to energize the city of Denver and all the passionate soccer fans who will descend upon the “Mile High City” when the U.S. Men’s National Team hosts Costa Rica in a crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier on March 22 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
One of the largest crowds ever to watch a soccer game at DSGP is already guaranteed, with more than 19,000 expected to cheer on the U.S. Men’s National Team. An additional 1,776 seats have been added to meet the heavy demand for the match. Fans will witness the debut of the new Nike centennial kit that celebrates the 100-year anniversary of U.S. Soccer.
The activities will engage a wide variety of fans, from hard-core supporters to licensed soccer coaches and the casual sports fan who wants to experience this special sporting event. Here are some of the exciting ways fans can participate in this special event:
Held at the famed Paramount Theater in downtown Denver on Thursday, March 21, U.S. head coach Jurgen Klinsmann and select members of the team will be on hand to pump up the supporters in advance of the match. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the program that includes videos, music and special presentations will kickoff at 8 p.m. Admittance is free for all fans.
Three of Denver’s finest chefs will prepare fabulous food in a fun and casual atmosphere as you gear up for kick off with all you can eat food, soft drinks and water. The tailgate will begin at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are available in advance as well as at the entrance. And for all those who couldn’t get a match ticket, don’t worry. We’re going to put a giant video screen right next to the tailgate so you can experience the thrills of the game with your fellow supporters.
TRAVEL AND TICKET PACKAGES
U.S. Soccer has created a special Travel Package for all the dedicated fans that are coming from across America to support the Men’s National Team. The amazing fan package includes hotel room, game-day transportation, the “Chalk Talk” luncheon (see below) and the pre-game tailgate.
The Ultimate Fan Ticket delivers a one-of-a-kind experience that takes you behind the scenes on game day to special areas like the locker room, TV production truck and the press box. You’ll watch the MNT's pregame warm-up from the field wearing your new customized Nike U.S. Soccer jersey before being escorted to your premium seats to enjoy the match.
TALK X’S AND O’S WITH ESPN COMMENTARY CREW
Want to get the breakdown on the X’s and O’s of the match and the keys to victory? For those purchasing a U.S. Soccer Travel Package or Ultimate Fan ticket, the ESPN crew will hold a special “Chalk Talk” luncheon on game day to provide insight, analysis and predictions for USA-Costa Rica. World Cup veterans Jeff Agoos and Marcelo Balboa will be on hand to share their experiences and take questions, so be prepared.
