Colorado Rapids midfielder Pablo Mastroeni, playing his first home match in over a year, left in the 8th minute with a left hamstring strain:
"We’ll still have to evaluate probably tomorrow or Tuesday, and go from there. I was just to the point where I couldn’t even run. For me, the bad part is that we lost so early in the game. I felt great in warm-ups, felt great all week leading into it; it was just one of those freak things that you have no control of. I just turned towards our goal and sprinted, pushed off my left leg and just felt it. I don’t think in my career I’ve dealt with a hamstring problem. I don’t know the extent of it, and we probably won’t know for a couple days. After being in the locker room with players that have dealt with hamstrings, it’s a real tricky situation, where you think you’re good, and you go out there and it gets worse."
Thoughts on the game:
"I think it was a continuation of the first game, where I think we controlled vast parts of the games, looked very dangerous, but just couldn’t score at the right time. I think when you commit a lot of numbers forward, to get that second goal to win, your susceptible in the back. Credit to them on that second goal, it was good football on their part. Overall, I think the team looks really good, and I think we’re moving in the right direction. I think when we are pressuring, and on their side of the field, we just have to find ways to capitalize on it to take the pressure off the team always having to defend. If we can find ways to be dangerous and get more goals early in games, it’ll take a lot of pressure off ourselves."
On 0-2-0 not being reflective of the team’s play in the first two weeks:
"It’s definitely doesn’t reflect the spirit that you feel in this locker room. It’s a long journey. Last year we won our first two games, and didn’t make it in the playoffs. There is a long way to go. There’s a lot of good players in this locker room, there’s a coaching staff that is committed to getting the job done. Like everything else, you take it one game at a time, you find a way to get in games, you find a way to get results. I think we the kind of characters in this locker room that will get that done."
