Rapids midfielder Martín Rivero, who missed nearly three months at the start of the 2013 season due to a broken right foot, has not suffered a recurrence of the same injury. The Argentinian left Saturday’s match against Chivas USA in the 44th minute after injuring his right foot, but x-rays taken on Sunday showed no broken bones.
Rivero will undergo further testing on Tuesday in Denver to determine the extent of the injury.
“We’re happy to know that it’s not a fracture, and remain optimistic about tomorrow’s tests,” said Rapids Head Coach Oscar Pareja. “Now we'll wait and see what the next steps are to get Martín back on the field.”
The Rapids will face Orlando City SC of the USL Professional Division (third tier) in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup action on Tuesday evening in Florida without the attacking midfielder.
