COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (Tuesday, July 2, 2013) – The Colorado Rapids announced today that Denver’s own Flobots will perform at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Thursday night as part of the annual 4thFest celebration presented by Westerra Credit Union. The alternative rock/hip hop band will perform on the stage outside Eighteen76 from approximately 9:30-10:00 p.m., at the conclusion of the Rapids match against the New York Red Bulls and prior to the fireworks display.
“Every time we get to team up with the Rapids, it's super exciting for us,” said Flobots MC Jonny 5. “We're really looking forward to this Thursday!”
“Flobots are a great Denver band that will make our 4thFest even more exciting for fans coming out to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park,” said Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “Over the years, they have shown an incredibly commitment to the Colorado community, and we’re pleased that they’ll join us and perform for everyone at our match on Thursday.”
Flobots’ performance at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will take place outside the south end of stadium near the Eighteen76 bar, and will be broadcast on the video board inside the stadium for fans watching the fireworks from field level.
Formed in Denver in 2005, Flobots are comprised of Jonny 5 (vocals), Brer Rabbit (vocals), Mackenzie Gault (viola/vocals), Jesse Walker (bass), and Kenny Ortiz (drums). The band became popular in 2008 when their singles “Handlebars” and “Rise” became hits on American alternative rock radio.
The Rapids and Commerce City’s annual 4thFest presented by Westerra Credit Union begins in the parking lots outside of Eighteen76 at 5 p.m., and includes activities for kids and adults before the Rapids take on the New York Red Bulls at 7:30 p.m. Flobots will perform at approximately 9:30 p.m. until the fireworks display by Zambelli begins at 10 p.m. 4thFest is part of Freedom Weekend with the Colorado Rapids.
