The Colorado Rapids took their second Wake Forest player in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft by selecting Demon Deacon defender Tolani Ibikunle with the 11th pick in the third round, the 49th overall selection. Colorado had previously selected Wake Forest's Jared Watts in the second round last week.
Ibikunle started 55 of 70 games he appeared in during his four years at Wake Forest's, including 20 in 2013 while helping the defense post five shutouts. He earned All-Philadelphia Catholic League and All-State honors as a junior and senior while at St. Joseph's Prep.
On his MLSsoccer.com bio, he's described as: "Extremely athletic. Would be better as a fullback. Decent on the ball.... Versatile. More of a CB who's had to play wide (either side, though mostly left back). Very athletic. Very quick. Good 1-v-1 defender...He'll have to get stronger. Technique and passing will have to get better, so he can connect better. He'll have to improve going forward to stay at outside back."
