Colorado Rapids midfielder, Vicente Sánchez, has become a father for the first time following the arrival on Wednesday of Mía Valentina. Mother, Paula, and baby are said to be doing well.
The former Uruguayan international did not make the trip to Toronto last weekend as it coincided with the baby's due date. He attended training on Tuesday but was absent on Wednesday, and on hand to welcome his baby daughter into the world.
Sanchez alerted fans to his wife's pregnancy when scoring his maiden goal for the Rapids, against FC Dallas last September.
By coincidence, Mía Valentina arrived on the same day that Rapids goalkeeper Joe Nasco was reunited with his young family. Wife Amber and one month-old Caroline will join him later on Wednesday, completing the Nasco family move to Denver.
