Ten things we learned from the Colorado Rapids' 2-1 loss vs. Real Salt Lake

By the numbers: here are 10 stats from the Colorado Rapids' 2-1 loss at home to Real Salt Lake at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday.

1. The Rapids’ unbeaten home record fell on Saturday. They had enjoyed a 19-game run without defeat at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. This is good for joint-sixth best all-time in MLS. The league record stands at 30 home games unbeaten, held by Houston Dynamo.

2. In that club record 19-game spell, the Rapids had a record of 12-0-7, while giving up just nine goals. It all began with the 1-0 win over LA Galaxy in the 2016 home opener.

3. When scoring first in 2016, the Rapids went 15-1-5. The only side to come from behind to win against Pablo Mastroeni’s side were Real Salt Lake (August 26, Rio Tinto).

4. The last time the Rapids scored first at home and lost was on October 4, 2015. As he did on Saturday, Kevin Doyle opened for the Rapids. As they did at the weekend, Real Salt Lake came back to win 2-1.

5. This was only the third time in 39 matches that the Rapids had conceded multiple goals in back-to-back games at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

6. Nick Rimando has now been in goal for 13 victories against the Rapids, his most against any MLS franchise.

7. For RSL, this was their first away win in nine attempts. They had previously gone 0-7-1, and averaged 0.6 goals per game in that time.

8. Doyle made his 50th MLS appearance on Saturday. His record at the half-century mark is 13 goals, four assists, with 44 of his appearances being starts.

9. Joshua Gatt and Mohammed Saeid both made their Rapids debut on Saturday. For Gatt, it was also his MLS debut. His last competitive soccer came on November 6, when he started and played 85 minutes for Molde in a 1-0 loss at Lillestrom.

10. Central defender Kortne Ford became the first Homegrown player to start on their home debut.
