We know what the Colorado Rapids have to do Wednesday night in San Jose in order to secure a playoff berth, but there are also five other teams that could join the New York Red Bulls in the postseason by the weekend.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – At the beginning of the season, Colorado Rapids head coach Oscar Pareja was forced to throw rookies, inexperienced players, and others with limited playing time over the past year into his starting lineup, handcuffed by a seemingly never-ending list of injuries.

Even though the Colorado Rapids are idle this weekend, the team knows they'll hold on to their playoff spot in Western Conference standings come Monday - no matter how any of the nine MLS weekend games go.

With 45 points after 30 games (12-9-9) the Rapids are currently tied with LA for final playoff spot in the West. Vancouver and San Jose are tied for sixth at 41 points each, followed closely by Dallas with 40 points.

The 2013 MLS playoff picture may still be a fuzzy mess considering that all 10 postseason spots are still seemingly up for grabs, but that doesn't mean the current league standings can't offer a preliminary glimpse of the potential matchups we might see once November rolls around.
