The Colorado Rapids and SOCO will kick off their fourth year of their partnership on Saturday, May 16 when they travel to Kansas City to take on the Special Olympics Kansas Unified team in an exchange game. The match will be held immediately following the MLS match between the Colorado Rapids first team and Sporting Kansas City (6:30 p.m. MT on Altitude).

Here are 10 facts and stats about this Saturday's opponents, Sporting Kansas City:
1. One of the 10 original franchises, Sporting Kansas City began life as Kansas City Wiz in 1996. They changed to Kansas City Wizards for the 1997 season, switching again to Sporting Kansas City from 2011.
2. Mark Chung was the first-ever pick for Sporting KC, selected sixth overall at the Inaugural Player Draft in February, 1996. He would later play for the Rapids.
COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – This upcoming Monday, fans are invited to help the Rapids welcome the club's newest Designated Player, Kevin Doyle. Doyle, along with Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey, Paul Bravo, Pádraig Smith and Pablo Mastroeni will be in attendance. The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. MT at The Celtic Tavern in Downtown Denver.
Doyle has enjoyed a high-caliber career in English football since joining Reading in 2005, scoring 92 goals in 357 appearances overall.

Jose Burciaga Jr.: selected 12th overall in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft by Kansas City Wizards, this defender went on to feature 115 times for KC, before heading to the Rapids for the 2008 season. He made 12 appearances (scoring one goal) in 2008, at the end of which the Rapids opted not to renew his contract.

Sporting KC will always have a ‘special’ place in the hearts of Rapids fans, being as they were the first-ever opponents when – as Kansas City Wiz – they ruined Colorado’s introduction to Major League Soccer with a 3-0 win at Arrowhead Stadium.

On the outcome of the game…
We put ourselves in a hole a little bit with that early goal. Once that happens, every team is going to sit in and make it really difficult for us. It’s difficult to break down a team when they have ten men and the goalkeeper behind the ball. We still managed to create some chances and were able to come up with a scrappy goal at the end there to save some points. We still have to be better from the start.
