MLS Regular Season
Dear Rapids Fans,
Welcome to the 2014 Home Opener, our first match of the season here at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park! After a long offseason, we’re thrilled to be getting back on the pitch and excited to see all of you here at the stadium. Despite the foul weather in the forecast, all of our staff is prepared for whatever comes our way, and we’ll be ready to kick off at 4 p.m. today! We are Colorado for Life!
The Rapids have welcomed a pair of players into the club’s training sessions this week on trial, bringing in John Neeskens (pictured above) and Thomas Piermayr. The two players have been training in Colorado since Wednesday as they look to impress the coaching staff.

There's much for Rapids Podcast hosts David Lindholm and Richard Fleming to talk about this week, as the team prepares for their first home game of the season, against the Portland Timbers on Saturday (March 22, TICKETS),
It will be three weeks this Saturday that Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin suffered a right quad strain in the preseason game against the New England Revolution in Tucson, but his return to first-team duties will not be rushed.
One of the breakout stars of the 2013 season for the Rapids was left back Chris Klute, but the start of 2014 did not go as smoothly for the 24-year-old. Klute was forced to leave the opening match of the MLS season after 52 minutes due to a hamstring injury.
Rapids Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni confirmed on Tuesday that the defender would likely miss some time due to the injury.
Coming from England, I’m used to backing the underdog in most sporting events, and it’s always sweetly satisfying whenever the big boys, the team that so-called experts tip as odds-on favorites receive something of a bloodied nose.
