Before Sunday’s match at FC Dallas, Colorado Rapids head coach Oscar Pareja had only planned to give star striker Conor Casey about 30 minutes of playing time to help the big striker get back in shape following a nine-month injury layoff.

On the foul by Perez that resulted in a red card:
"His cleat was extended into me. I don't think he meant any malice in it whatsoever, but it is a scary situation. I hit my head pretty hard and I wanted to be sure that was ok. It was a physical game. It always is when the two of us line up against each other and that's the way it went tonight."

FRISCO, Texas – Jaime Castrillon’s 61st-minute header was all the Colorado Rapids needed to cruise to a 2-0 win against an FC Dallas side reduced to nine men by two first-half red cards.

Castrillon got on the end of a Brian Mullan cross to head the ball past FC Dallas keeper Kevin Hartman. Buoyed by their two-man advantage, the Rapids had been peppering Hartman’s goal with shots before Castrillon made the breakthrough. Martin Rivero sealed the victory with a 74th-minute goal, his first in MLS.

Commerce City, Colo. - Coming off a tough midweek loss in New England, Oscar Pareja only has one thought in mind as he prepares to return to Dallas - getting his team ready.

"Honestly, I haven't had time to think about it," said Pareja of facing his former team for the first time as a coach. "I'm approaching this game the same way I've approached the first nine games. It's simply a game with the same importance as the previous ones and the ones ahead. I haven't had a chance to think about that extra component."

Brian Mullan knew it was coming.

The boos showered down early and often from the hostile Sounders crowd and onto the Rapids’ veteran midfielder during Saturday’s 1-0 loss at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Mullan’s hard tackle on Sounders midfielder Steve Zakuani last April broke the Congolese player’s leg and ended Zakuani’s season. That tackle resulted in a record ten-game suspension for Mullan, and a harsh response from Seattle fans on Saturday.
