When Brian Mullan was replaced by Kamani Hill to start the second half of Wednesday's loss at DC, the move may have come across as a tactical decision. However, as it came to be known following the match, at halftime Mullan informed the coaching staff that he injured his left knee after slipping near the United penaly area halfway through the first half, which caused the substitution.

Mullan will be further evaluated upon returning to Colorado. His status for Saturday's home match against Sporting KC (7 pm MT) at Dick's Sporting Goods Park remains unclear.

WASHINGTON — D.C. United rode goals from Dwayne De Rosario and Hamdi Salihi to a comfortable 2-0 victory over the Colorado Rapids at RFK Stadium on Wednesday night.

Neither team looked threatening in the first half, until De Rosario opened up the scoring in the 25th minute with his third goal of the campaign. Englishman Lewis Neal picked up a loose ball in midfield with space to roam, and made his way towards goal before picking out De Rosario’s run. The Canadian international slipped a shot past Matt Pickens for the 1-0 lead.
