In 2012 the U.S. Soccer Federation included all Division I, II, and III professional clubs in the U.S. Open Cup proper for the first time ever. Bunbury’s 79th-minute goal on Tuesday night, off a headed assist from C.J. Sapong, iced Sporting’s 2-0 win and propelled them into a June 26 home matchup against the Dayton Dutch Lions of USL Pro. Dayton advanced by beating the PDL’s Michigan Bucks 2-1 earlier Tuesday.
