Colorado Rapids Academy Player Identification

Our Academy is committed to identifying and developing talented players, equipping them to progress through our player pathway with the goal of playing professional soccer for the Colorado Rapids. How Players Are Scouted
Top-performing players are identified in their local environments and invited to participate in trial periods. Our scouts attend key events throughout the season, including:
- MLS NEXT: Flex, Fest, GA Cup, MLS Cup
- ECNL: Showcases, Playoffs
- ODP: State and regional competitions
MLS NEXT Players
Players currently registered with MLS NEXT clubs may join Academy trials with written permission from their current club. This collaborative process gives players the opportunity to be evaluated in a professional setting.
Out-of-State Players
Players outside the Colorado Rapids Homegrown Territory (Colorado and New Mexico) are subject to MLS homegrown territory restrictions. Our limited homestay program provides select out-of-market players with the opportunity to join the Academy. These placements are competitive and reserved for top performers.
International Players
Players born outside the United States, ages 10–18, must follow FIFA international transfer regulations. Currently, we are not accepting tryout applications from international players under 18.
Professional Player Identification
The Colorado Rapids Academy is committed to a professional and respectful player identification process. We communicate with players’ current clubs to ensure all proper steps are followed before trials or transfers.
