Darren Bazeley

Assistant Coach

The Northampton, England native joined the Rapids after spending two years as Assistant Coach of the New Zealand National Team under the direction of current Rapids Head Coach Anthony Hudson.

Prior to being the Assistant Coach for the New Zealand senior team, Bazeley coached the New Zealand U-17 (2009-2013) and New Zealand U-20 squads (2013-2017). During his time as the Head Coach for the New Zealand U-20 squad, Bazeley would reach two FIFA U-20 World Cup Round of 16 appearances in 2015 and 2017, becoming the first U-20 team to reach the knockout stages of the U-20 World Cup on both occasions.

Bazeley began his playing career with Watford’s youth club at the age of 14 years old. In the ten years Bazeley played for Watford’s Senior Team, the right full back notched 283 appearances and 21 goals. He would go on to make 80 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers (England), 100 for Walsall (England), 41 for New Zealand Knights and 17 for Waitakere United (New Zealand).
