Steve Cooke joined the Colorado Rapids coaching staff full-time in February 2010, following a successful twenty year coaching career in both England and the United States.
In addition to his already elite qualifications, Steve will also complete the Pro License Course in December, 2017.
A graduate of Carnegie College, England, in Education, Cooke holds both the UEFA “A” Coaching License and the USSF “A” Coaching License.
Steve was also part of the first Elite Formation Coaches License course, which is conducted by the French Football Federation in conjunction with Major League Soccer.
Steve was initially brought to the Colorado Rapids to work within the Rapids Academy, but when Oscar Pareja joined the Colorado Rapids as Head Coach in 2012, Cooke was asked to add first team coaching responsibilities to his role with the club. This led to an expansion of that position at the beginning of the 2013 season when Cooke was officially made a first team assistant coach. Following the appointment of Pablo Mastroeni in 2014, Cooke was asked to enhance his assistant coach role, and has become an integral part of Mastroeni's coaching staff ever since.
Prior to coming to Colorado Steve moved to the United States in 1996, after spending six years with Sheffield Wednesday Football Club, then of the English Premier League, where he performed duties as Youth Team Coach and Center of Excellence Coach. Additionally, he worked for The Football Association as a tutor and assessor in their coaching education department.
Cooke made the move to Phoenix, Arizona, where he spent eight very successful years as the Assistant Director of Coaching at Sereno Soccer Club and a further two years at SC del Sol in the same role.
His career then took him to Las Vegas, Nevada when he accepted a position as the Technical Director for Neusport Football Club in 2007.
