Performance Analyst/Strength Coach
Miguel Motolongo is entering his third season with the Colorado Rapids as Performance Analyst and Strength Coach.
His responsibilities include player monitoring through the use of GPS technology, year-long periodization of training sessions, strength and conditioning sessions, nutritional guidance, and a progressive return of injured athletes to full participation.
Miguel is both a certified athletic trainer as well as a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the BOC and NSCA, respectively. He is also full body-certified in active release techniques and works closely with the head athletic trainer in reducing the amount of matches missed for injured athletes.
He graduated with a BS in Athletic Training from Nova Southeastern University, while interning with the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers of the NASL, Florida Atlantic University football team, and the nationally-recognized St. Thomas Aquinas high school football program.
Miguel was then awarded a graduate assistantship with Florida State University where he completed a Masters in Sports Science and worked with the women’s soccer and baseball team, implementing injury-prevention programs. While at Florida State University, Miguel assisted the women’s soccer program reach the Final Four tournament three years in a row with two ACC Championships and a National Championship.
Originally born in Valencia, Venezuela, Miguel moved to the U.S. at a young age and was raised in Weston, Florida. His favorite activities include basketball, hockey, mountain biking, and snowboarding.
