Sean O'Neill

Assistant Athletic Trainer

A native of Long Beach, California, Sean O’Neill is entering his first year as an athletic trainer with the Colorado Rapids. His responsibilities include assisting the head athletic trainer with injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation as well as documentation and inventory management. He also works directly with the athletes in the Rapids development academy.

Sean earned a Master’s degree in Athletic Training from Michigan State University in 2017 while working with the MSU Men’s Soccer and Football teams. During his time at MSU, he gained proficiency with various manual therapies, including muscle energy and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques.

Sean graduated from California State University, Long Beach in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and completed his BOC certification shortly after. While at CSULB, he interned with UCLA Football, LBSU Men’s Volleyball, Golden West College athletics, and the Long Beach Bombers Junior A hockey team. He is level 1 Smart Tools certified, works as a Certified Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid Instructor, and is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association. In his free time, Sean enjoys playing volleyball, weight lifting, hiking, and traveling.
