The Colorado Rapids and Special Olympics Colorado will kick off their sixth consecutive year together when the Rapids’ Unified Team faces off against the Special Olympics Columbus Unified Team on June 3 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.
“We are very excited to continue our partnership with Special Olympics Colorado for a sixth consecutive year,” said Colorado Rapids President Tim Hinchey. “It has been a joy watching these amazing athletes for the last few years and as always, we are extremely proud to have them represent our Rapids colors for yet another season."
The unified team, which is comprised of players both with and without intellectual disabilities between the ages of 16 and 35, has received training from the Colorado Rapid’s players and coaches. The teams soccer matches are scheduled in conjunction with Rapids home games.

This exchange program not only provides Special Olympics athletes with top-level training and competitive experiences, but also offers MLS fans an opportunity to witness the talents and abilities of Special Olympics Colorado soccer players’ first-hand.
