The Colorado Rapids and The British Bulldog will again join forces to host a free outdoor viewing party, this time for the 2010 FIFA World Cup final on Sunday, July 11 in downtown Denver.
The 2010 World Cup Final will kick off at 12:30 p.m. MT, but fans are encouraged to arrive early. The all-European final will feature the Netherlands, reaching their first final since 1978 after defeating Uruguay 3-2, meeting Spain, which makes its first-ever finals appearance after a 1-0 victory over Germany in the other semifinal.
On June 12, the Rapids and British Bulldog successfully hosted the largest free outdoor soccer viewing event in the Rocky Mountain region when they brought in a giant outdoor television screen and sound system for the United States’ first round match against England. An estimate 2,000- 2,500 fans attended the event.
On Sunday, July 11, Stout Street between Broadway and 21st Streets in downtown Denver will be closed to traffic beginning at 9 am MT. An outdoor television screen - three times the size of the one used on Jun 12 - will be raised for the Final, providing an umatched viewing experience. Fans can also expect more access to public restrooms and more food and beverage points of sale.
“It was such a privilege and honor for us to have hosted the largest outdoor public soccer viewing in the history of Colorado a few weeks ago,” said Kieran Cain, Sr. Director of Marketing for the Rapids. “The thousands of fans who attended demonstrated the passion the Mile High City has for the world's most popular game, and it's for them that we want to host another, even bigger and better event, for the final on July 11.”
“There is nothing like the passion, spirit, and emotion of supporters of the world’s game, and we want to give them the best possible viewing experience for the World Cup Final,” said Jon Forget, British Bulldog General Manager. “We are very proud to be partners with the Rapids on this massive event, which culminates an incredible month of soccer. We encourage everyone that loves the game to be in attendance.”
