Rapids Obtain Rights to Defender Ty Harden

COMMERCE CITY CO (Tuesday January 13 2009) – The Colorado Rapids acquired the MLS rights to defender Ty Harden in a trade with the LA Galaxy that was announced today.
In exchange the Rapids sent LA one of their two third round picks in Thursday’s MLS SuperDraft.

Harden the Galaxy’s 2007 Defender of the Year did not play in 2008 after electing to step away from the game to pursue philanthropic endeavors last February. Colorado now hold six picks in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft. The first is in the second round the 20th overall selection with another in the third round and four in the fourth and final round.

The SuperDraft will begin at 12 p.m. MT on Thursday with ESPN2 televising the first hour of the proceedings live. In addition to ESPN2’s live coverage fans will also be able to get exclusive insights and interviews on the club's new blog the Rapids Undercurrent.
