The Rapids players coaches staff and RapidMan took turns bagging up donated Thanksgiving meals that were hand-delivered to thousands of families around Denver who are not able to afford Thanksgiving!

Altitude TV was also on hand filming the Rapids as they lent a hand at the event one of the largest charitable holiday events in the United States. Look for footage and interviews from the Rapids players in the next few weeks on Altitude on Comcast cable channel 25!

The Rapids had announced last week that the team would once again take part in the COMPA Food Ministry's Annual Thanksgiving Outreach the largest Thanksgiving Meal Donation program of its kind in the Western United States and one of the biggest in the country on Saturday November 20th from 9:00am-noon (MT) at the National Western Stock Show Complex.

This is the third straight year that the Rapids have supported the Annual Outreach which feeds around 60000 needy individuals who could not normally afford a Thanksgiving meal. The Rapids will provide players coaches front office staff and RapidMan to be on hand to help bag and deliver Thanksgiving meals to the thousands of families who have been nominated by their community to receive donated meals (Rapids goalkeeper Scott Vallow is pictured at left at last year's Thanksgiving Outreach).

This year’s 24th annual COMPA Thanksgiving Outreach is a community-wide effort to provide traditional holiday food to needy families in the Rocky Mountain Region. November 20th will be the culmination of a succession of events that began back in September with the nomination of needy families the organization of food drives and the collection of financial gifts. The Outreach has helped impact hunger around the holiday season since 1981.

The Colorado Rapids Community Relations Department supports many events like this one during the course of every year. The mission of the Rapids Community Relations Department is to strengthen the bond between the franchise and Colorado's charitable organizations and to continue to build upon the extensive grassroots efforts of the club. It is the team's desire to be able to continually give back to our local community which has so faithfully supported the Rapids since the team’s inception in 1996.
